Hey hey guys I was wondering if you could help me out. I make hip hop beats and am looking to use some of my ideas that definitely fit the bump scene. How long do you guys think a bump should be? Is a minute too long? Also is there any other way to get our bumps on the site other then posting it in the forum? How does adult swim select their bumps? ? ? Haha sorry for all these questions for real thanks.

Hi, welcome to the boards! Well first things first, we are not official or affiliated to [adult swim] in any way, just in case 8-). But regarding the questions: a bump is usually 10 seconds, 15 for a text card. Lately, we've been seeing a lot of 5 second bumps, and on now very rare ocassions there are 30 second bumps (we saw that during earlier years, but now they're virtually unheard of). This because a bump is just a short separation between shows and commercials, and those commercials pay for the channel so they get top priority. Regarding the site thing, we're working on a user site but there's a lot if work to be done on that, so if you're in a hurry you might wanna start in the forums. [adult swim] make their bump images in-house, regarding the music there must be a coordinator that selects the songs but I'm not 100% clear on how that works out. If you wish to get your music on TV, you must first make sure you do not have any unauthorized samples in it; if you don't have clearance for the samples you use, you could get in legal trouble. Presenting your music to [adult swim], you'll have to get in contact with Turner or Time Warner and talk directly to the person in charge of selecting the music, so you can work out whatever deal you want to with them regarding royalties, etc. You might get a little help with that posting on the official [adult swim] message boards (the ASMB for short) since some of the people working at [adult swim] attend them, and might be able to rely more info. It's not exactly a cakewalk, though. Also you might want to join a music representation company (Ascap or BMI) before attempting anything, so they can manage matters regarding your royalties and stuff, freeing you up a bit. I hope this helps, and if you have any more questions feel free to ask!

Woah very in depth response, lots of good info here. I appreciate it big time mongo. I've got about 20 or so unfinished beats lying around so I'm planning on putting them together for an adult swim bump compilation. I'll be sure to keep everything you pointed out in mind. Thanks mongo.
