This many missing bumps?

I was just looking at this bump that said "Over 9984 Bumps Served", (See here: http://www.bumpworthy.com/bumps/3500) and so I knew there couldn't possibly be near 10,000 bumps on this site. The latest bump is #3726.

So my question is, have we missed nearly 6,000 bumps, or would you say this is just a fake number? I mean come to think of it, I can recall a few bumps I haven't found on here yet. Might just be me passing them, however.

It's slightly unbelievable, but I'd just like to make sure.

I'm afraid I haven't even tried to do any fake math  but we are missing quite a few bumps, mostly of the pure text variety. This site was created in February of 2005 to showcase the graphic bumps. It wasn't about being complete back then so much as "What are the favorites?" I don't think we started adding even the visually interesting text bumps until maybe Fall of 2006. It was a stroke of good fortune we were able to acquire the original Pool bumps and the First Aid/How To bumps. That brings us to only May of 2003. So there's a gap of 21 months plus the lack of pure text bumps. So, what did we have in 2003... a three hour block? (Correct me if I'm wrong, this is all off the top of my head) That's 24 bumps, new bumps on Sunday with Monday through Thursday each having their designated bumps run for four weeks. (Not sure when they switched that up, but since there was no Friday at the time the math should come out the same, at least until...)  In August of 2003 they started Viewer Card Night on Thursdays so that's another new batch of 16 every week, until August 2005 when they killed it. The earliest graphic bumps that I remember were of this variety: http://www.bumpworthy.com/bumps/1250 - they may have been restricted to Saturdays - again this is just me trying to remember but I thought those appeared in late 2003.

Well this is going to have to be continued... but it's enough to start making an educated guess... and I don't know if they're counting the title cards - this is a 2nd gen version http://www.bumpworthy.com/bumps/1245 the first ones didn't have motion but they would run in addition to the bumps.

As for the other wall of information, I thank you. Somewhere in there is my answer, but my tiny brain cannot comprehend it all right now.

Man, if we're relying on my brain alone for this we are in trouble 

I actually pulled out the dusty VHS collection last week - I wanted to make sure I had copies of some old anime series that I knew someone was about to tape over. I was just informed that the in-laws have returned from their snowbirdiness and I have to put them all back ASAP  *argh*

Hmm.. I wish I could help.  That's a hard one.  My first thought is that it is probably wrong.

If you look at it from another perspective:  They've almost been on the air for 10 years now, right?  That would be an average of almost 1000 bumps per year.  That's about 20 bumps per week.  I don't know about that...

However, there are a LOT of viewer cards, so it might be possible.  If they are counting promos too, I would change my answer to "probably true".

I should pull out my old VHS stuff too and see if I can rip some stuff we might not have...but that's a whole new ballgame for me

Me or Mr. Hang? If you're talking to me then you've got the wrong person. Not only do I not have a capture card, but I didn't even watch AS until around 2005.

That was directed at MrHang... I don't have a habit of calling everybody 'Sweetie'  Just a couple of these guys here, and not usually on the public side  MrHang and I go way back in [adult swim] years and I just got excited at the prospect of some vintage bumps.
