The time draws near.
Rumor has it they will be airing something different instead of The Room this year.
Unless that's what they want you to think...
Welp, they asked for suggestions... I could totally see them telling us we didn't suggest anything better so here's The Room.... again... :-P
I still think the best one was in 2006 wish I could find my tape of that use to be on youtube a couple of years ago.
Oh, I really hope they turn it up this year. These past few have been so bad I'm stuck thinking it's gonna suck. You know, I'm not even a huge fan of it but I'd rather have Off the Air than The Room again. I kinda feel bad saying that cause The Room is kinda cool, but while it would've been genius just the one time, it's pretty bad it's taking the Fool slot every year.
This interesting blurb popped up on Lance Heiskell's Twitter:
(https://www.bumpworthy.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi261.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fii41%2FAndrewSP%2FScreenshot_2012-03-30-16-42-03.png&hash=46dc78bd798b54b5831e48849ecef1ba5dcd1df3)
This is very interesting, because Lance works with FUNimation.
Oh, REEEAAAaaalllllyyyyyyyy :-o
Steve Blum is hyping it, too! (https://twitter.com/#!/blumspew/statuses/186246517110222848)
QuoteSomething very cool and old school is afoot tonight... More in about 3 hours...
Here it is....
SQUEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!
Haha toonami is back! :-D and watching good old gundam wing this is absolutely awesome hope this means the rumors were true that it was coming back.
SQUEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!
Wow, this has made me very, very happy! I think I can afford to go to bed late tonight :-D
I couldn't sleep if I wanted to :-D ... and I thought I was gonna need a 5-hour to stay awake tonight.
Greatest april fools ever! 8-)
Is anyone recording this by any chance?
On my PC, two DVD recorders, and a VHS for good measure :-D
Awesome! good to hear.
Also posted some missing bumps in the missing bumps thread.
...did I mention they don't let me use my video unless I'm the only one who has it
We're firing on all cylinders video-wise :-D
Was that great or what!? The "Room" kicked in... :-o :-(... then... :-o :-D  :-)... That was crazy! Loved it. How about that interesting montage that wasn't a bump or a promo!? Beautiful words of wisdom being spoken by the voice actor for "Jet", I think, from "Bebop", talking about space, moving forward, not giving up, if I remember correctly. I hope we post that here or at ASF.
I became a moderate viewer of AS in 2003 (ACTN) then a hardcore viewer in 2005. This was a really exciting thing for me, getting to see a classic Toonami line-up. I've only heard stories and remember one night in 2001, turning on "Gundam Wing", thinking this is awesome but what in the world does "Adult Swim" mean!?
Yeah, I know I don't post here often, but...
OMG BEST APRIL FOOL'S DAY EVAR!
I'm hoping that the 90's Nick thing has really rung in with CN and hopefully they'll replace [as] Saturday with a more adult oriented Toonami like last night. I choose to be hopeful that they'll realize there's a market for this kind of thing.

It means ALL KIDS OUTTA THE POOL!!! :-D Man, you really missed out on some cool stuff. I suspect "Dreams" is already at ToonamiArsenal.com (http://www.toonamiarsenal.com/) ... which is just a step away from ASF... it's a classic. Oh, yeah, wow! those guys are fast  they already have last night's hijinks posted on the main page, including an HD version of "Dreams." You can find the old version under 'Middle Toonami' ~ and yes, the VA is Beau Billingslea. Those kinds of things were staples of the block. I'm hardly an expert, though. I was pretty firmly entrenched in the Midnight Run but the afternoon block was difficult for me to catch so there's a lot that I missed, too :(
Ohhhh, I wish I still had cable :( Glad to see some of the videos already up on Toonami Arsenal. Watching and loving... That fake "The Room" intro is great!

Well we're always glad to see you
The buzz I'm seeing from insiders suggests they really are looking for feedback on this so depending on what they hear it could become a reality. SO MANY users at the ASMB dug up old accounts and logged on last night, mostly positive. It's amazing what some people will find to complain about. Anyway, I just got this off Steve Blum's Facebook:
"Yo, Toonami Faithful...
Thanks for tuning in. Hope it kicked in some happy memories and kicked off a happy April! As you (hopefully) know, bringing Toonami back isn't up to me. I'm just a voice guy. Many of you want to know how to make your voices heard. Maybe start here... http://www.cartoonnetwork.com/feedback/ Go to "programming" then "Toonami"
Love you guys from the bottom of my servos."

DONE. I just wish I had more tapes from when I used to record CN stuff all the way back in the early '00s. I miss the old [as] Saturdays and Toonami.
Heh, the ASMB is down:
"Service Temporarily Unavailable
The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to maintenance downtime or capacity problems. Please try again later"
I wonder if it's really traffic (it could be, with all this) or if we broke it with all the April Fool's modifications we made

I feel ya' on that one. I can't tell you how giddy I get sometimes when I pull out an old tape. I wish I had been more consistent in the old days... and not taped over any series tapes when I bought the DVD's ... oh the Codpiece bumps, I want the Codpiece bumps!!! :-D

Hey man, glad to see ya again! Yep, I'll join in on the chorus; I totally wish the Toonami thing was more permanent too, it was just perfect.

Done :-D I definitely want more. Lastly, yes, I hate that I didn't have a working VCR back then! If only I'd known, some of my best memories come from Toonami. I was so happy when I discovered Toonami Arsenal :-D
Yes, thank goodness for TDA. I was taping all the wrong stuff in the '90's ... I've thrown away about a hundred tapes of stuff that WGN was running as a Sci Fi/ Fantasy block that I never actually bothered to watch.
Another suggestion for feedback, pared down a bit from the source (http://boards.adultswim.com/t5/Toonami/DO-THIS-EVERY-SATURDAY/m-p/64340395#M1786)
the best thing to do is to write actual letters TO CN.
Paul Dini, ... says himself about his cancelled show "Tower Prep," "Many people have asked me about petitions, e-mail campaigns and the like to keep the show going. ... of all of the options, an e-mail campaign would have the least effect. Actual posted (stamped and mailed)letters are what most networks respond to. I once heard Seth McFarlane say that after Family Guy was cancelled the first time, Fox was ready to reconsider after they received something like only 200 letters. ..."

Two thumbs up from me, that was great fun.
At first I thought Tom was just going to be announcing the normal Saturday lineup, then the in-between said "next Dragonball Z, later Gundam Wing," and I was like "whaaa....."
Speaking of Tom, this may have already been mentioned but I'm too lazy to check... He did say something to the extent of "New Bleach next week, only on Toonami, on AS." Maybe they've got a trial run for the next few weeks? The messages that Numy posted by insiders, about not knowing if AS will pick up Toonami again... if they don't know, why did they set up a Toonami block pitch for next week?
I thought the exact same thing when I saw that bleach promo for the next episode, but I went on the adult swim website the next day and checked the schedule for next saturday to see that it was just the regular line up, but who knows if as or cn get enough feedback from all the toonami petitions and not to mention adult swims twitter post we may see it back this weekend. wishful thinking.
Yeah, I've rewatched that a few times and am pretty puzzled myself. I guess there's also the possibility of sticking Tom to intro the standard lineup, but I wouldn't be entirely crazy about that myself :|
If there's one thing I've learned it's that you never know when AS is yankin' ya' ... :-P
I am intrigued by the hashtag on the tweet from the FUNi rep ~ #ratingsmatter ~ that makes me think it really was a test. Steve Blum and Jason DeMarco are both fanning the Twitter flames.
Here are some stats on the #BringBackToonami front: http://topsy.com/twitter.com/adultswim/status/187004036824834049
It'll come back when I release a new User Bump...
Pessimism aside, don't expect a return so soon. Even if we did get it back, it would probably take a while to create new content. Though I don't think they'll make a new TOM version or do anything that screwed up the Toonami of old, I'm sure they'll need to make new stuff. More game reviews, intros and bumps, commercials, upscaling to HD content (If you noticed, a lot of the videos of TOM v3 were still SD format and you can check that on CNVault's Youtube page). It probably wouldn't be back next week even if they intended to bring it back for good, and worst case scenario if they do, the lineup wouldn't change drastically.
Though Funimation's enthusiasm makes me laugh. Considering they were JUST booted off Verizon FiOS late last month this may be a way for them to make a comeback on Cable TV. They aren't as pronounced as they used to be on that front and it would do them good to bring back old favorites as well as new licensees to the mix (They also own ADVs entire [?] library so it'd be a good opportunity to get stuff like Chobits a run just for nostalgic sheets and giggles).
At the end of the day [as] needs the ratings on Saturday nights. Considering the only time I watch CN is for King of the Hill reruns (Doesn't help I don't have CNHD, FiOS likes to punish their customers by withholding good content in exchange for Pets.TV) it'd be a terrific change of pace.
/end long post
Totally unrelated but if anyone wants to send me their old tapes I'd be more than happy to take them off your hands. :D
