I have an idea but I don't know if it's very feasible. What if users could post comments on bumps, similarly to how users can on YouTube?

It's not a bad idea, in fact it has been mentioned before. I don't know how possible it's implementation would be, though.

Yeah that was the exact problem I had in mind. I don't know very much about website managing, but I did find a couple of things that might work.

I've always wanted to implement a comment system.  I really like the idea, but I am afraid of it being abused or otherwise getting out of hand.  Lots of the comments on sites such as YouTube are not things I would want a kid to see.  Maybe we can try it out at some point and see how it goes.

Yeah I agree. I've noticed with Bumpworthy that the users on the boards don't seem like the type of people to post those kinds of comments, though I can't say that would always be the case. Maybe a note saying to keep comments appropriate, and comments could get deleted if they're inappropriate? I do think trying it out would be cool, and that way there's a chance to see if it ends up working out.

Personally, I'm barely worried about the users, we have a great community  :-D, it's spammers I'm worried about. Although there would definitely have to be modding.

I mentioned this when it was brought up before -- the implementation would have to be key.  With a catalog of (just checked, wow) 2400 bumps and a couple dozen (?) site regulars, if it were ever done, I'd recommend a way to track when comments are left.  Like a "recently commented" section on the main page like the "recent updates."  Otherwise, every 20th bump or so might have a comment and noone would know unless you just happened upon it.

An alternative may be a forum subsection specifically for bump comments.  Or maybe someone choose a bump every few weeks to discuss and make a new thread about it.  The old English class critical appraisal.  Anyway, just ideas.

Yeah, we'd definitely need a "recently commented" thing. I like the subsection idea, I'd have to see the implementation because ease of use should be a must. I absolutley love the "critical appraisal" idea but I'm pretty sure I'm in the minority on that one .

forum is a thing that is not hard to moderate. not as hard as ~2500 bumps. and viagra sellers would be happy with it :-D (not viagra sellers but kind people posting free download links)
