Good New Bumps, Agree?

Happy new year, all.  I've noticed a few bumps lately that I tend to like.  Since we (myself very much included) tend to more often lament the loss of the good old bumps, it's a nice feeling.  I'm not saying they're quite like the good ol' days, but here are the ones that have recently caught my eye:

Genetic Pipe Probe http://www.bumpworthy.com/bumps/4501

Levitating Girl Collage http://www.bumpworthy.com/bumps/4500

Morphing: Falling Tree http://www.bumpworthy.com/bumps/4256

Agree?  Disagree?  What do you all think?

Agreed!  I really like the genetic pipe one a lot.  I just with they would go back to 10-15 second bumps instead of 5-10 second ones

They're still in the new "weird video" style, but I must say the Levitating Girl Collage one is quite beautiful and has a great beat. I really like the Genetic Pipe Probe not entirely because I would consider it a "bump" but because it's very, very well made. Great graphics! After so long I've started to tolerate a few of the new style bumps.

Yeah, I liked Levitating Girl Collage and Genetic Pipe Probe. We need more bumps with weird images coupled with just as weird music, lol.

Seconded, all.  Yeah, they're definitely not like the old ones, moreso in the "weird, different, but palatable and actually enjoyable" category for me.

I actually came to this realization while watching genetic pipe probe -- I kept rewinding it and trying to pause the DVR at the exact moment the text was on the screen so I could read what it said.  I couldn't quite get it, and around the 4th or 5th try I thought... wait a second, I think I actually like this bump.

Neat also to see the Flying Lotus connection for levitating girl from the other thread.

Now I wonder who really did the Genetic Pipes one...  It seems unusual enough that I'd bet AS outsourced it too.
This one intrigues me... the man who in the past took the photographs for some of our favorite classic bumps has an affinity for decay. The first time I saw this I thought of him. However, given that it airs outside the time slot reserved for the bump team one might assume that it was produced by the promo team.

(side note: I'm a tad annoyed that the top three of the list of top ten promos for the year are all utilized as bumps)

Anyway, moving on...
What may or may not be known is that this same man has been known to cut promos now and then. So I wonder, was he involved?

Well... This IS [as] so they're definitely ... interesting.

The Spike Probe is probably my favorite considering all it does is remind me of what would happen if Toonami were still around... and had a budget... and used it to make bumps that would potentially scare their target audience.

I don't think that they've been uploaded yet but I'm kind of impressed with the creepy, trippy, psychedelic, "Old Man/Young Girls/Horse Head/Pillow Fight" bumps.  They've taken some direction from Fellini and  Kubrick on those (maybe Donnie Darko too).  They look so much like the AXE Body Spray commercials, which also have a man wearing a horse head, with girls/etc.  With that being said, I always thought that AXE must have stolen the idea from the Swim (Even though AXE was first).  Actually, it seems more like a page out of Donnie Darko's world.

Now, I wish that they would find one night out of the week to continue playing all of the "Tokyo Bumps"/"ACTN" and anything that uses an AX's, Extreme, APM, etc., library track with a still photo or moving scroll.  Let's get back to a magical time known as 2003-05.  :-)  I would gladly take classic bumps re-running on Saturday night in place of truly awful stuff like "Hey it's Grandpa and his Car" or "Granny and her piece of $#!+ computer" or "That woman at the Hair Stylist" or "The Weatherman/Merlin/PBS Announcer Woman".  Spare me please.  I can't take having to watch these over and over and over for the past two years.  I'll take the "New Bumps" mentioned above over all of these any day.

They're up, titled "Creepy Dance Party"  :-o
I had forgotten about those AXE ads, I see what you mean.

I saw the feathers flying and all I could think of was that horrible Cerebral Ballzy video for "Junky for Her" that would send me screaming from the room.  :-P

I kinda don't like how random these come on. I remember the same bumps used to come on at set times everyday. Most notably We'd Like to See you try always was the last of the AcTN bumps to come on everyday and then they always gave Now In lush color at 5:30 everyday except Sundays.
These new bumps are ok like the owls in random areas and the Flips Tips but the old ones mostly the 2005 to 2008 AcTN bumps were the best to me. I do wish they put a sign out bump instead of one of those KoTH bumps to suit the mood the [AS] is finished.
