got any good books to recommend?  with the beginning of summer fast approaching, i want to make a list of good books to *hopefully* read.  preferably ones that "challenge" people or once made it on some banned book list somewhere.

i'm open to anything.  except for those quasi-religious "improve yourself" ones.  thanks.

I suggest, Brave New World Revisited by Aldous Huxley (very good book, suggest you read it)

(It challenges your brain)

I haven't read it, but this would probably qualify your request:

The Satanic Verses, by Salman Rushdie

QuoteThe novel caused much controversy upon publication in 1988, as many Muslims considered that it contained blasphemous references (see The Satanic Verses controversy in the Salman Rushdie article). India was the first country to ban the book. Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, the Shi'a Muslim scholar who was also the Supreme Leader of Iran, then issued a fatwa which called for the death of Rushdie and claimed that it was the duty of every Muslim to obey.

I would recommend "The Catcher In The Rye" by J.D. Salinger. Or did you already read that?

haven't read "catcher in the rye", it's a classic, right?  satanic verses sounds cool.  i'll add them to my list.  thanks.

Have you read The DaVinci Code or Holy Blood, Holy Grail? I'd like your opinion...

i've read all of davinci code.  i loved it.  i've read about 1/2-3/4 of the holy blood, holy grail book.  it's really dense, that's why i haven't finished it yet.  i found both books to be really interesting.  who knows if the stuff is true or fake, it makes for really thought provoking reading!  and it's really challenging...makes you think about where you stand on things.

i'm also looking forward to watching the code movie...maybe this weekend or something.
